A lot of entities fall under the Disney banner, and many people are probably wondering if the streaming powerhouse that is Netflix is one of those outfits that answer to the House of Mouse.
When most people think of the company Disney, they think of the streaming service Disney+, Mickey Mouse, theme parks, and kid’s movies. But the company founded in 1923 is so much more. Over their almost 100-year tenure in the industry that has obtained many big-name acquisitions strengthening their brand and solidifying their dominance within the world of entertainment.
Besides its world-renowned theme parks and family-friendly intellectual properties, the massive company owns or has considerable stakes in many major endeavors. For example, Marvel, Lucasfilm, ABC, Pixar, core Publishing, and Hollywood Records are owned by Disney. The company also has 50% equity with the Hearts Company in regards to ownership for A&E, The History Channel, and Lifetime. In addition, they have an 80% stake with ESPN and a 10% stake in Vice Media.
Disney also made headlines with its purchase of Fox for $71.3 billion in 2020. As far as Hulu is concerned, they will be buying out Comcast’s stake in 2024 for $5.8 billion. Knowing all that, the question that remains is whether or not Netflix is also on the roster?

Netflix is arguably the biggest competitor Disney has to go up against in the streaming wars, which is funny because many consider Netflix to be the Disney of the streaming industry. The two are probably the biggest contenders in the battle for on-screen dominance, and it will be rather intriguing to see who ends up on top in the end or if there’s room for both.
