What is the history of the SREB? ›

The nation's first regional interstate compact for education, SREB was created in 1948 by Southern governors and legislators who recognized the link between education and economic vitality.

SREB's Powerful Mathematics Instructional Practices help teachers take a balanced approach to math instruction in which they use formative assessment lessons to check students' understanding of math concepts and correct any misunderstandings.

The Doctoral Award offers three years of direct program support ($20,000 annual stipend) and two years of institutional support from the scholar's college, university and/or department.
