On March 12, 2020, production was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic; it remained suspended until November 2021. The musical reopened on November 15, 2021 and announced on April 22 that it would close on Sunday, May 22, 2022.
The off-Broadway production of Jersey Boys will end its run at New World Stages on May 22, after over 1,000 performances. The off-Broadway production opened in 2017, just ten months after the Broadway production ended its 11-year run at the August Wilson Theatre.

"It's the least most of us can do, but less of us will do more." They may not use real cigarettes (why would they endanger their cast and crew). They probably use what filmmakers do and use fake cigarettes that approximate smoking but have no harmful effects.
I am a part of the show and can attest to the fact everything you hear is live, there are no tracks and no lip syncing in this show. The real band is backstage, and all the cast have tiny microphones in their hair for audio. This truly is a great show!
It fell to Valli to go out on the road, taking any work he could to pay off the debt. It took more than five years but when the money from Jersey Boys started flowing in Valli and Gaudio gave DeVito and Massi's family (Massi had died by then) a share.
