The Galaxy S23 does not have an SD card slot
In fact, none of the models in the S23 line do — meaning you don't get the option with the Galaxy S23 Plus or Galaxy S23 Ultra either. Unfortunately, this isn't surprising for Samsung. The last mainline Galaxy S phone with SD card slot support was the Galaxy S20.

The bottom line: Don't upgrade to the Galaxy S23 if you have a Galaxy S22. The changes aren't noticeable enough to warrant an upgrade. How often should I get a new phone?
Upgrading Your Phone Every Three Years
Most people upgrade their phones every two to three years. By then, the battery starts to become bothersome and Android phones stop receiving updates. It's also usually enough time for tech companies to introduce some new features you might want on your next phone.
The average iPhone lifespan is 4-10 years. Apple models generally last much longer than what is expected of most smartphones, which typically only last two to four years. iPhones are also considered to have the highest lifespan among all smartphone brands in the industry.
A smartphone that is made for longevity can be a real thing. Too bad that's not how most of them are designed.
If you want the best, go with the S23 or S23 Plus. The Samsung Galaxy S22 or S22 Plus are a better value if you're on a budget. You get similar specs, but an older design. You also save hundreds in the process.
For the most part, Samsung Galaxy phones have better hardware, cameras, battery life, and display for the price than the iPhone offers. But despite the tech in your hand being of better quality, a Samsung phone may depreciate in value faster than an iPhone.

To no one's surprise, the S23 Ultra shattered on the first drop from waist height. It was believed that the curved display of the S23 Ultra could be to blame for so shattering so easily and there was a hint of hope that the S23+, which has a flat glass display, may fare better. It didn't quite turn out that way.
Unfortunately, the Galaxy S23 is not waterproof, but it has a rating of IP68, making it water-resistant and dust-proof. Though this means you shouldn't purposely take a dip with your Galaxy S23, you do have some pretty substantial protection from water and dust particles.

The reason that smartphone manufacturers are ditching micro SD card slots in their devices, especially at the high end, is money. Manufacturers can't charge a premium for an SD card slot, but they can charge a $100 for a few extra gigabytes of flash storage.

Is Galaxy a 22 good?
Our Samsung Galaxy A22 review in summary
Its LCD screen won't win any awards, but at 6.6-inches it's great for video on the fly. There's a decent triple lens camera, as well as a sizable battery. Throw in Android software and you've got a great handset at a brilliant price.
However, if you're holding an S20 in your hand and don't see anything wrong with it, it does make sense to stick with it. The S22 offers a better design, an upgraded camera setup, longer software support, and a slightly brighter display, but none of these upgrades scream, "Oh, I've got to get this phone!"
The Samsung Galaxy S22 is essentially a specced-up version of the Galaxy S21. That means a newer, fast Exynos 2200 chipset compared with the Exynos 2100 found on the Galaxy S21. RAM remains the same at 8GB, while both phones can now run Google's Android 13 software, with Samsung's own One UI on top.
