We raise money both throughout the year and in our annual November appeal which is put to work where it's needed most. We fund local charities and projects who help remove the barriers that are facing children and young people, so that they can thrive. 100% of your donation will go to BBC Children in Need.

Financial Statements and Information

You can be assured that Save the Children uses the valuable resources donors have provided in the most cost-effective ways possible. Our independently audited financial statements consistently show that out of every dollar spent, 86 cents goes directly toward helping children.

It is the only charity belonging to the BBC, the other telethon being Red Nose Day, supporting Comic Relief.

Children in Need is our UK-based charity which provides grants to thousands of projects which focus on children and young people who are disadvantaged throughout the UK. BBC Media Action is our international development charity.

We work closely with the United Nations, the Government of countries and other aid agencies to coordinate our programs. How much of my donation will go toward programs? In fiscal year 2022, 86% of all expenditures went to program services.

Simon has worked in the voluntary sector for over 25 years. Prior to joining BBC Children in Need, Simon was Chief Executive of We are With You, before which he was Chief Executive of Clubs for Young People. Simon has also held senior positions at Parkinson's UK and Scope.

Donors also want to feel like the money they're giving will make a difference. Nineteen dollars is a big enough figure to feel significant for many people without making a noticeable dent in their wallets. One theory attached to the $19 figure ascribes more cynical motivations to charitable organizations.
