Wipro Technologies, one of the largest software companies in India is headed by Azim Premji, whose attributes point towards a level 5 leadership style. Sound values, integrity and professional will were identified as the impetus that drove Premji to turn Wipro from a USD2 million company to a USD1.76 billion one serving customers across the globe. Premji's sharp strategic vision and crisp communication skills led his team to strive for excellence. He has been known for his modesty, simplicity and non-extravagance. The case study helps to perceive the concept of level 5 leadership and further maps Azim Premji as a level 5 leader.
