You need fair credit to get approved for the TJX credit card, which means a credit score of 620 or above. Your credit score won’t be the only factor taken into account, however, so this is only a guideline.

With that being said, you’re right to consider a store credit card in this instance because they typically have more lenient approval requirements than general-purpose credit cards. The Kohl’s Store Card is another offer worth looking into, as it provides a 20% discount on your first purchase after account approval with no cap on how much you save.

Well, this is a store card and Synchrony - the issuer- requires fair credit for most of their store cards, (a minimum score of 620). They may accept applicants with slightly lower credit scores, considering that you can only use the card at TJ Maxx and related stores.

You need about 640 for this card. Obviously, the score's not the only thing they'll take into account, they'll check your whole credit report, and income. Some negative items will hurt beyond just your score, like bankruptcies. Even if you have 640, they might still reject you because of it.

Whatever the case, if you're under 640, you might just be better off with a secured card, to push your score up for a while.
