Are there Broadway shows every day of the week? ›

While the traditional Broadway schedule runs Tuesday through Sunday (with Sunday and Monday evenings off), a handful of productions diverge slightly and offer performances at non-traditional times, particularly during the holidays.

Broadway shows follow a similar performance schedule throughout the week. Each show has about 8 performances per week, including both matinees and night-time performances.

Manhattanites, on the other hand, favor weeknights for attending Broadway theater. Thursday night performances are the most desired, followed by Tuesday nights. Oddly enough, Wednesday night is relegated to fifth place, with Friday night taking third and Saturday night fourth.

That said, many broadway theaters in New York have begun to deviate from the traditional schedule. Some have 7pm performances on certain weeknights, or Monday & Sunday evening performances.

There are typically between nine to ten performances a week for a Broadway actor. Sunday and Monday night are usually off, while Tuesday- Saturday the call time typically is set between two to three hours before curtain, (depending on costumes and makeup) with the show starting approximately at 8pm.
