U.S. oil & gas lobbying spend by party 2024 | Statista (2024)

Oil and gas companies spent more than 20 million U.S. dollars on lobbying Republican Party members in the 2024 election cycle. The Republican Party has historically been the greatest recipient of oil & gas companies' lobbying expenditures in the United States. Between the 1990 and 2024 election cycles, the oil & gas industry significantly ramped up its spending on lobbying for political parties. Whereas spending aimed towards the Democratic Party saw only slight fluctuations, lobbying for the Republican Party surged to a peak of nearly 66 million U.S. dollars in the presidential election year 2020. This compared to 12.35 million U.S. dollars which went to the Democratic Party. The greatest recipient that year was President Trump.
