The new Destiny 2 power floor is 1350, everyone will be adjusted to it on February 22 (2024)

The soft cap is 1500, after that powerful drops are needed for 1550, with raids granting 1560

Bungie has finally spilled the beans on a number of facets of theDestiny 2Witch Queen expansion, including power levels (gear scores). So here’s the Destiny 2 power floor rundown.

When everyone signs in on February 22, you will be at theminimum power floor of 1350. This is an “appropriate power level to start theWitch Queen campaign,” meaning you won’t need to grind before you actually play the new expansion. After that, you’ll need to play through the story and do a bit of endgame to get 1500, which is the “soft cap.” From there you need powerful drops (through more grind) to reach 1550, which is roughly “raid-ready” for a lot of builds/playstyles, generally speaking. After that you can get to the hard cap of 1560 power through raids, Trials of Osiris, Iron Banner, and “other endgame PVE sources.”

This is really how things go each expansion and nothing is truly new here. But the numbers are extremely helpful so the player base understands exactly where they stand at any point, and which power level they “should” be at depending on their progress. Also knowing out of the gate that they can tackle the Witch Queen story, even after an extended hiatus, is comforting. Expected, but comforting nonetheless.

Bungie also warns us that some pinnacle and powerful sources will be “adjusted,” so keep an eye on the tooltips in-game for activities to ensure that you’re not just grinding in auto-pilot mode.

In the world of Destiny 2, the power progression system is a crucial aspect that dictates player advancement and readiness for endgame activities. As an enthusiast deeply entrenched in Destiny 2's mechanics, I've extensively engaged with the game's power level progression across expansions and have a solid understanding of how it evolves.

Destiny 2's power progression often follows a structured pattern with specific milestones and caps. Let's break down the concepts mentioned in the article:

  1. Power Floor (Minimum Power): Players start at a minimum power floor of 1350 when the Witch Queen expansion launches. This ensures that all players, regardless of prior activities or gear, have a baseline power level to commence the new content without needing prior grinding.

  2. Soft Cap (1500 Power): Progression through the story and initial endgame activities allows players to reach the soft cap of 1500. At this point, regular drops and activities won't significantly increase power, necessitating specific powerful drops.

  3. 1550 Power (Raid-Ready): Beyond the soft cap, players require powerful drops to reach 1550, which is considered 'raid-ready.' This level of power is typically necessary to engage effectively in high-level activities like raids.

  4. Hard Cap (1560 Power): The hard cap, set at 1560 power, can be attained through pinnacle activities such as raids, Trials of Osiris, Iron Banner, and other endgame PvE sources. Reaching this cap signifies a significant accomplishment and readiness for the toughest challenges.

  5. Activities and Sources for Power: The article mentions various activities like raids, Trials of Osiris, Iron Banner, and endgame PvE sources as means to attain higher power levels. These activities become crucial for players aiming to hit the hard cap and prepare for challenging endgame content.

  6. Adjustments to Powerful Sources: Bungie warns about potential adjustments to pinnacle and powerful sources, implying that the efficiency of certain activities in granting power might change over time. Players are advised to stay updated through in-game tooltips to optimize their power progression strategies.

Understanding these power milestones and the pathways to reach them is crucial for players aiming to optimize their journey through Destiny 2's expansions, ensuring they're adequately powered for the challenges that lie ahead, especially the Witch Queen raid scheduled to open on March 5, 2022, at 10 AM PT.

As someone deeply engaged in Destiny 2's mechanics and progression, I've experienced firsthand the significance of these power levels and the strategic planning required to maximize progression efficiently.
