The best all-natural moth repellent to protect your clothes | Most Lovely Things (1)

The best all-natural moth repellent to protect your clothes and Sunday Favorites with my friends Cindy and Mary Ann. A few weeks ago I made all-natural sachets for Cindy after she discovered a box of her sweaters and scarves had been eaten by moths during the move. But there’s one more thing I want to share that I also use to keep my favorite sweaters, scarves, and socks safe from moths and other pests. A homemade cedar spray to use on cedar planks, blocks, and hangers. I used to buy this from The Container Store, the same place I purchased my cedar plank drawer liners years ago. But now with essential oils, I can easily make my own cedar spray.

Instructions

  1. Combine cedarwood essential oil, witch hazel, and swirl in a bottle to combine. Top off the bottle with water.
  2. Shake each time before use and spray on cedarwood planks, walls, blocks, hangers to freshen up the cedar. It also helps to lightly sand the planks a little, wipe clean, and then spray with cedar spray.

Notes

I do this in spring and fall and have never had a problem with moths or other pests!

To buy Cedarwood Esential Oil like mine, from Young Living, click here and I’ll send you an amber bottle and a label. It’s the best all-natural moth repellent to protect your clothes!

Carrot Cake and the best Cream Cheese Frosting

A carrot cake inspired by friends! I made this carrot cake recipe, and I used Sheri Silver’s foolproof cream cheese frosting recipe. I used to guess on making cream cheese frosting and would always end up with too much! Turns out, I’m terrible at guessing the right amount of confectioner’s sugar. Sheri has the perfect recipe. I used half a recipe this time, and turned out perfectly! Sheri has tips on how to make the creamiest frosting and she’s spot on! It’s a dream to frost your cake with this cream cheese frosting!

Decoration inspired by Karen of Milk and Honey Life

I decorated it with a little reserved shredded carrot, chopped walnuts, and a few tiny flowers. I often see Karen Emile sharing a cake that she decorated simply, but beautifully and thought, why don’t I do that? It’s always the little things. Like the small painting by Karen’s son Aiden that you can see in this post!

We had the chance to test out Solo Stoves at The Lost Kitchen Cabins this weekend and now we need one! I love a firepit, but the problem with traditional firepits is that someone is always in the line of the smoke! Solo Stoves are smokeless. We used it in the evening and then in the morning we lit a fire and enjoyed our coffee and breakfast by the fire. They come in several sizes, but I think the Solo Stove Bonfire is perfect and the most popular. They are on sale right now too!

Solo Bonfire Stove and Accessories would make a great family gift!

Chore Coats make the perfect fall jacket

Once the calendar turns to October, Madeline and I love wearing our chore coats. I love the big pockets for slipping my phone into or rocks and shells on a beach walk. It’s the perfect jacket for layering. Wear with a t-shirt or layer a sweater or hooded sweatshirt under it for extra warmth. Madeline accessorized hers with a black sleeveless Theory dress (thrifted), Doc Martens, and these socks from J.Crew. It’s the perfect lightweight jacket and proof that a chore coat is versatile and can be dressed up or down.
