Strategic Action Planning (StrAP)
StrAP is a well structured two-day workshop for the senior management to develop strategic action plans. It has be developed by Aiming Better on the bases of a similar workshop of IMD, Lausanne, Switzerland (a leading European MBA and Executive Management School). Central to StrAP are two questions:
- what to we want to achieve? ("the dream")
- what are we able to achieve? ("the reality")
The cruxial questions are: "are we able to do what we want", "do we have the required competencies and capabilities" ,and if not "what do we have to do to make our strategy happen" (training, new employees, outsourcing, acquisitions, co operations, etc.)
A StrAP workshop deals with the following issues:
- external and/or internal changes ("discontinuities") which will require a new strategy,
- the new strategic direction(the dream),
- the required strategic action (action planning),
- the required competencies (can we do it?),
- the processes which have to be improved,
- the improvement projects and programmes.
A StrAP workshop results in a strategic planning, and builds commitment of the senior management and team spirit .
