How to Hide Things From Certain People on Facebook (2024)
Facebook is sensitive to the fact that users don't want the whole world to have access to all their personal information. With that in mind, the social networking site makes it easy to hide your information from other people. When you select "Friends" as a privacy setting, only those people with whom you are Facebook friends have access to the information. You can also hide posts and other information from certain people on your friend list.
Hide your wall post from a specific person by hovering your mouse over the post and clicking on the downward arrow that appears in the top right corner of the post. Choose "Custom" from the menu. Enter the name of the person you want to hide the post from in the "Hide this from" field; click on your friend's name when Facebook shows a line with her name and thumbnail. Alternatively, enter the name of a friend list. Enter the next name or list, if applicable, and click "Save Changes" when you're finished.
2.
Hide all Facebook wall posts from certain people by default by clicking the "Account" link in the top right corner of your profile picture and then "Privacy Settings." Click on the button beneath "Custom" in the "Control Your Default Privacy" section. Enter the name of a friend or friend list in the "Hide this from" field. Click "Save Changes."
3.
Stop certain people from seeing one of your profile information sections, such as "Music" or "Employer," by going to your profile page and clicking "Edit Profile" at the top of your profile. Click on the tab in the left column of the screen that represents the section you want to edit. Click the arrow next to a section and choose "Custom" from the menu. Enter the name of a friend or list in the "Hide this from" field and click "Save Changes."
Tap in the top right of the post and select one of the following options: Hide post: Hides a single post. Snooze [Name] for 30 days: Temporarily hides all posts from a specific person, Page or group from your Feed. You'll continue to be friends with or follow the person, Page or group.
Learn more about friend lists on Facebook. When you add someone to your Restricted list, you'll still be friends with them on Facebook, but they'll only be able to see your public information (example: your posts and profile info you choose to make public) and posts you tag them in.
If you've been restricted, you won't be able to see the private posts, hence the space here. Depending on when your friend made their public posts, you might not see a gap here even if you have been restricted.
Update who can see your posts in your settings. Use the audience selector to choose who can see each of your posts. Review posts before they appear on your timeline with Timeline Review. Choose to block someone's profile, which keeps that profile from doing things like seeing or commenting on your posts.
Scroll through their timeline to see if any hidden posts are visible to you. If you can't find the post you're looking for, it may be hidden due to privacy settings or deleted.
Just because you've hidden a Facebook post from your timeline doesn't mean other people can't see it in their personal newsfeeds. For example, if you hide a photo from your timeline, your friends can still comment on and react to the post if it appears in their newsfeeds.
Facebook doesn't let people track who views their profile. Third-party apps also can't provide this functionality. If you come across an app that claims to offer this ability, please report the app. Was this helpful?
