Dumpster Rental FAQs

What size dumpster do I need to rent?

We offer a wide variety of dumpster types and sizes to fit the needs of all kinds of projects, big and small. Call our Customer Care team at (800) 375-8375 with a description of your project and we can help you choose the right type of dumpster rental for your needs.

How much does it cost to rent a dumpster?

The cost of renting a dumpster will always vary based on the size of the dumpster you need, the type of debris you’re throwing away, the weight of the debris, your location and the duration of the rental. Please contact our Customer Care team at (800) 375-8375 or request a quote online.

How far in advance do you need to book a dumpster for rent?

Texas Disposal Systems provides fast and reliable dumpster rental services. We ask that you contact us at least 5 days prior to your required delivery date. Call us – We are here to help!

For how long can I rent a dumpster?

We are happy to work with your schedule so you have your dumpster exactly when you need it, for as long as you need it. Our friendly, in-house customer care representatives will work with you to schedule pick-up and drop-off times. While TDS does not have a limit to the duration you keep a dumpster, the unit is subject to monthly charges and fees. For more information, please ask our customer care representatives (800) 375-8375.

How does the delivery and pick up process work?

Our drivers will deliver and pick up your dumpster within a specific time frame that works with your schedule. Our drivers are trained to place and collect dumpsters correctly and safely, so your customers can rest assured that their property and driveways are safe.

Where can I put my dumpster?

Please make sure there is a clear area on solid ground so that our drivers can deliver your dumpster. The area must be paved or have solid earth, rock base, or other solidified footing that can handle the weight of dumped materials. If the area is considered too soft of footing, TDS reserves the right to delay delivery.

Additionally, there must be enough room (approximately 30 feet minimum in radius) for a truck to maneuver and deliver/haul away a dumpster. The area must also be free of obstructions like low-hanging wires, concrete barriers, vehicles, or other items that can prevent a driver from working on the dumpster.

Do I need a permit to rent a dumpster?

You do not need a permit to rent a dumpster if you plan on placing it on a private driveway. However, if you plan on placing it on a public road, street, or cul-de-sac, you will need a city permit. Some Homeowners Associations have rules about where and how long rental dumpsters can be set up.

Is there anything I can’t put in a dumpster?

Yes. Typically, Texas Disposal Systems does not accept hazardous waste, liquid waste, or earth debris such as soil and dirt. You can find a comprehensive list of what we do and do not accept on our site. For information on how to dispose of specific items at our facilities, consult the Waste Wizard. Please contact our Customer Care team at (800) 375-8375 with questions regarding the disposal of hazardous wastes or further questions about acceptable items.

Does everything I throw away go into a landfill, or is there separate recycling?

The answer to this question is going to depend highly on the type of materials you are throwing away. Several bulk items can be recycled, but it truly depends on the item. For example, wood waste can fall into many categories and is sorted by the amount and its previous use. Similarly, appliances like washers, dryers, fridges and ovens can be recycled for metal, but each appliance may vary. If it is determined that a separate pick up of some items is required, Texas Disposal Systems can help you schedule pick up times.

If you are curious about whether some or all of what you’re putting in your dumpster can be recycled, we recommend contacting Customer Care at (800) 375-8375. For questions about specific items, we also recommend consulting our Waste Wizard by searching under the “What Goes Where” feature to determine how to dispose of various items.

Why might my dumpster rental service be delayed or canceled?

TDS prides itself in its commitment to service our clients. However, we reserve the right to delay or cancel collection under several circ*mstances:

  • If dumpsters are filled with unaccepted material, such as hazardous waste, liquid waste, or earth debris such as soil and dirt. In some cases, TDS may still transport these items but may charge additional fees.
  • In the event of severe weather or impassable road conditions.

What areas do you service?

Our dumpster rentals are available in all of our service markets including Austin, San Antonio, Sealy, Alpine, San Angelo and Weimar. Not sure if we serve your area? Contact a TDS Customer Care expert at (800) 375-8375 to get your questions answered.
