Exports of goods and services consist of transactions in goods and services (sales, barter, and gifts) from residents to non-residents.

Exports of goods occur when economic ownership of goods changes between residents and non-residents. This applies irrespective of corresponding physical movements of goods across frontiers.

For example goods sent abroad for custom work are no longer counted in exports of goods and processed goods is not counted as an import of goods. However is recognized importing industrial service in the country of the payer of an amount equal to the difference between the value of the finished product and inputs. The total foreign trade balance is not changed.

Remarque

This definition of the European System of Accounts (ESA 2010), based on the concept of property is consistent with the Balance of Payments Manual (6th edition (BPM6).
