RMS Titanic was a British ocean liner that sank on 15 April 1912 after striking an iceberg on the ship's maiden voyage from Southampton, England to New York City, United States. Titanic, operated by the White Star Line, was carrying passengers and mail.

Captain Smith should have taken the iceberg warnings more seriously and taken a northern route that's somewhat closer to Newfoundland and New England. Instead, the Captain chose a southern route. On the night of April 14, 1912 it would have been better for the Captain to slow the Titanic at a speed of 13 knots.
