What do donkeys signify in the Bible? ›

In contrast to Grecian works, donkeys were portrayed in Biblical works as symbols of service, suffering, peace and humility.

A common hormonal disorder, which affects a gland in the brain, called the pituitary gland. The disease arises when the nerve supply to the pituitary gland becomes damaged, which ultimately causes increased quantities of hormones to be released from the gland.

Obviously we weren't there to witness, but we know from Scripture that God can use anything he wants, to speak to us. In this account, the voice of God comes through a donkey to convict Balaam of how his desire for prize money was blinding him, and separating him from the work God had called him toward.

The moral of this story is you should never try to avoid the work given to you. Avoiding work is easy, but completing the work is the right thing to do. Every work you do will teach you something, and it will help you grow in your life. The foolish donkey tried to trick the merchant but got fooled by him.

In Judaism, this passage from Zechariah is taken to refer to the Messiah, a spiritual king who would peacefully redeem Israel. The donkey itself is also interpreted as a sign of humility. In Christianity, this animal becomes almost a symbol of Christ himself, given how it patiently suffers and bears others' burdens.

Trimming donkey hooves

Most donkeys will require a foot trim every 6-10 weeks, but care should be taken with older donkeys who might struggle to lift their limbs. You should aim to keep limbs as low as possible during trimming.

Laminitis is inflammation of the 'laminae', the sensitive soft tissue structure inside the hoof that joins the pedal bone to the hoof wall.
