Accenture myNav puts a green spin on cloud migration - SiliconANGLE (1) CLOUD

Companies have to adopt cloud computing operations or risk being flattened by the steamroller of the COVID-19 pandemic. But the journey to cloud is an expensive one along a highway littered with potholes and speed bumps.

Giving clients a map to a better cloud experience, Accenture plc’s myNav offers a sneak preview of the path and a solid view of the benefits waiting at the end. Plus, its new Green Cloud Advisor module makes moving to cloud an environmentally sustainable choice.

“With myNav, we have created the ability to take the guesswork out of cloud, navigate the complexity,” saidKishore Durg(pictured, right), senior managing director and Cloud First global services lead at Accenture. “We are lowering risks costs, and we are achieving client’s strategic business objectives while building a sustainable Earth with Green Cloud.”

Durg and Tristan Morel L’Horset (pictured, left), managing director and North America intelligent cloud and infrastructure solutions lead at Accenture, spoke with Rebecca Knight, host of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio, during the AWS Executive Summit. They discussed how Accenture’s myNav and its Green Cloud Advisor are helping companies take control of their digital transformation. (* Disclosure below.)

myNav charts a path through accelerated cloud transformation

With COVID forcing companies to adopt cloud or die, many are turning to the myNav platform for guidance, according to Durg. In just the past few months, myNav has enabled 140 companies across different industries to identify the right cloud solution for their use case and rapidly implement it.

Alongside infrastructure and operating model, myNav looks at a variety of variables to establish a clients’ business outcomes and identify the optimal solution for their use case, according to Morel L’Horset. This is done through a three-step process: “The first is scanning and assessing our client’s infrastructure, their data landscape, their application,” Morel L’Horset said.

Then the platform’s automated artificial intelligence engine recommends an enterprise architecture and solution. And, thirdly, the platform offers a simulation and test of the proposed cloud model. “This simulation gives our clients a way to see what cloud is going to look like, feel like and how it’s going to transform their business before they go there,” Morel L’Horset stated.

Accenture turns the cloud green

The Green Cloud Advisor module within myNav addresses the demand for energy-efficient and sustainable infrastructure.

“A lot of our clients are accelerating to a green cloud strategy to unlock greater financial, societal and environmental benefit through cloud-based circular operational and sustainable products and services,” Durg stated. The module looks at industry benchmarks and evaluates a client’s current capabilities and carbon footprint.

On the other side of the equation are the hyperscalers, which have already invested in energy-efficient data centers that run on renewable energy sources. Marrying those two, myNav provides “quantifiable green cloud capabilities and measurable outcomes to our clients, shareholders, stakeholders and customers,” Durg stated.

A 400% reduction in carbon footprint has been measured by two of the first clients to use the module, according to Durg.

myNav has some equally impressive use-case figures. A recent implementation with a global oil and gas company indicated a potential savings of $27 million over five years, according to Morel L’Horset.

“This enabled the client to get started, knowing that there is a business case benefit, and then iterate on it,” he said. “Whereas in the past, one obstacle would prevent a client from starting, we can now start to address the obstacles one at a time while continuing and accelerating the client journey. ”
