10th Principle of Biblical Wealth Management - What is Biblical Wealth? | Christian Financial Advisors® (2024)

Today’s blog is the last of the 10 Principles of Biblical Wealth Management that I started in March. Hopefully all of you have gotten a chance to read all the Principles of Biblical wealth management in this series.

BIBLICAL WEALTH IS GOD’S WEALTH

DEUTERONOMY 8:18, PSALM 24:1

All wealth comes from God, belongs to God, honors God, and is a blessing from God. When we accept that wealth is God’s instead of ours, we are better equipped to manage it. Managing one’s wealth Biblically calls for wisdom. We are called to honor God with all that we do, including the management of the wealth that He has so graciously bestowed.

WHAT IS BIBLICAL WEALTH FOR?

MATTHEW 25:35-40, 28:19-20

The term “Biblical Wealth” is very loaded. Those who have gained wealth have also gained great responsibility to take care of that wealth, along with taking care of family, the church, and the less fortunate. This wealth is intended to provide for people, support ministries, feeding the hungry, clothing the poor, educating the helpless and protecting the innocent. These things are what the church and Christians, are called to do.

HOW IS BIBLICAL WEALTH OBTAINED?

PROVERBS 10:14, 12:11, 13:11, 14:23

Biblical Wealth rarely just falls into one’s lap. God’s blessing of wealth is usually obtained by great wisdom and responsibility and through discipline, hard work, saving, investing, and seeking God’s will. Occasional, Biblical wealth is obtained suddenly by a great blessing such as an inheritance, oil and gas discovery or great invention. Seeking God’s wisdom for handling sudden wealth is extremely important because of the impact of “sudden wealth syndrome” that can cause enormous long term damage.

2 Corinthians 9:6-8

Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed.

WHAT DOES BIBLICAL WEALTH ULTIMATELY MEAN?

MATTHEW 25:14-30

When you decide to manage God’s wealth for his glory instead of ours, all financial decisions become spiritual decisions. Those with Biblical Wealth do not attach their self-worth to their net-worth, but see their wealth as an opportunity to manage what God has blessed them with. We are not owners of our wealth, we are not owned by our wealth, and we are commanded to allow wealth to flow through us to bless others.

I encourage you to go back and read any of the Principles you missed. You might even want to share them in your church, small group, family, or workplace, and could actually have a lengthy Bible Study on each principle I carried over 3 months.
